Major achievements of our manufacturing facilities at Ranchi and Hoshiarpur

'Certificate of Achievement' awarded to our manufacturing unit at Ranchi by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

On World Standards Day, our manufacturing facility at Ranchi, India, was awarded the "Certificate of Achievement" by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for developing various standards applicable to steel wires and wire ropes in the last six decades. We feel extremely proud to receive this honour. This prestigious recognition sets a new milestone for all the organisation's stakeholders working towards sustainable development.

On behalf of Usha Martin, Mr. Tushar Mukherjee (Head-Quality Assurance), along with Mr. Sandeep Jaiswal (DGM - Quality Assurance) and his team, represented UML in this forum. Mr. Mukherjee addressed the subject of the contribution of BIS in building sustainability through standardisation and emphasised Usha Martin’s association with BIS right from the foundation stage of the organisation. UML obtained the first BIS licence in Feb'1964 on IS-1855 for the Winding Rope. Currently, UML holds 19 different licences with BIS, and on this journey, we have gradually developed many standardised and sustainable products for our customers.

Eminent personalities from the field of sustainable development graced the occasion and delivered their presentations. Dr. Kalyan Chakraborty, from the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, was the Chief Guest. Mr. S. K. Verma (Director of BIS, Jamshedpur) and Kaushaledra Kumar (Dy. Director of BIS, Jamshedpur) also discussed the role and contribution of BIS in the 17 Goals set by the Govt. of India for sustainable development to be achieved by 2030. Mr. Arka gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

We look forward to working more closely with BIS, enriching the industry's users, regulators, and other stakeholders in building sustainability by offering products and services of the highest international standards.

 

'Award of Honour' presented to our manufacturing unit at Hoshiarpur by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Our Manufacturing unit at Hoshiarpur in northern India received the "Award of Honour" from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for being the first BIS licence holder of IS 9962-1981 in the country for manufacturing steel wires for needles. This took place on the occasion of World Standards Day. The Award of Honour was presented by Shree Abhinav Trikha (IAS, Commissioner of Food Safety, Punjab) and Shree Rajeev P (Deputy Director General - BIS, North) along with Mr. Satish Kumar (Scientist F / Sr. Director - BIS, Chandigarh). Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora (Executive Director at Punjab State Council for Science and Technology) was also present on this occasion.

On behalf of Usha Martin’s Hoshiarpur manufacturing unit, Mr. Prabodh Kumar (Sr. General Manager - Plant Operations) and Mr. Salinderpal Singh (AGM - Quality Assurance) received this prestigious memento from BIS.

This is a remarkable achievement for the organization, and we are delighted with this special recognition from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

In this forum, many other senior officials from different industries were present. They discussed the role and contribution of BIS and their valuable association that helps to build sustainability through the standardisation of products and services.
