The Launch of Program Aarogyam for Rural Healthcare

At Shalini Hospital, with the support of Usha Martin Foundation (UMF), launched Program Aarogyam on 11 August at Angara Panchayat. The multi-purpose healthcare initiative is aimed at strengthening maternal and child health outcomes in rural communities. The programme will focus on promoting safe motherhood, institutional deliveries, antenatal and postnatal care, nutrition awareness, and family planning, while facilitating access to essential healthcare services across Usha Martin’s CSR intervention areas.

The launch brought together healthcare experts, community leaders, and representatives from Shalini Hospitals and Usha Martin Foundation, who highlighted the importance of timely healthcare, informed decision-making, and greater community awareness. Speaking at the inaugural event, Dr. Anant Kumar, Head of Programme, Rural Management at XISS, emphasised the importance of family planning and access to accurate information on available methods. He noted that women should have adequate knowledge to make informed choices based on their individual needs, convenience, and personal circumstances.

Dr. Kumar also highlighted the importance of adequate nutrition for women, particularly during pregnancy, and encouraged communities to make greater use of nutritious food grown in their own fields and kitchen gardens. Locally cultivated vegetables and fresh produce can contribute significantly to healthy pregnancies and improved maternal well-being. Through Program Aarogyam, Usha Martin Foundation and Shalini Hospital are taking a focused step towards strengthening healthcare awareness and access, while supporting healthier, empowered, and better-informed rural communities.
