Usha Martin Foundation, in collaboration with the 26th Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), organised an eight-day practical training programme on millet processing and value addition for rural and tribal women and members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The initiative aimed to create awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets and encourage their use in everyday diets while equipping participants with practical food preparation skills.

As part of the programme, participants received hands-on training in preparing a variety of millet-based dishes, including Ragi Idli, Ragi Halwa, Bajra Khichdi, Jowar Dalia and Millet Cutlets, among others. The sessions focused on practical learning, food preparation techniques and the potential of millets as a nutritious and versatile ingredient for everyday cooking.

The initiative aimed to promote healthy eating habits, strengthen practical skills and encourage self-reliance among rural and tribal women. By introducing participants to millet-based food products and their value addition potential, the programme also sought to explore avenues for income generation and entrepreneurship, supporting livelihood development and economic empowerment within rural communities.
