Community Engagement Initiative: Sohrai Tribal Art Workshop by our CSR team

Usha Martin

As part of Usha Martin Foundation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community engagement and promote local culture, a Sohrai Tribal Art Workshop was recently organized for women from the surrounding communities. The initiative aimed to preserve traditional art forms, encourage creative expression, and create potential livelihood opportunities through skill development.

About the Workshop

Sohrai painting, an indigenous art form practiced by tribal communities of Jharkhand, is known for its vibrant motifs inspired by nature, animals, and daily life. The workshop introduced participants to the cultural significance of Sohrai art while offering hands-on experience in creating basic motifs and patterns.

Objectives of the Initiative

  • To create awareness about the traditional Sohrai tribal art among community women.
  • To provide practical training in fundamental motifs and painting techniques.
  • To foster cultural participation and strengthen community bonding through art.
  • To identify and nurture artistic talent that may support future livelihood opportunities.

Expected Impact

  • Greater awareness and appreciation of local tribal art forms.
  • Increased confidence and active participation among women in cultural activities.
  • Identification of participants interested in advanced training for skill development.
  • Strengthened community engagement and continued efforts toward cultural preservation.

Through initiatives like this, Usha Martin Foundation reaffirms its commitment to empowering communities, preserving cultural heritage, and creating pathways for sustainable development.
