Scope
This specification describes the chemical, physical, mechanical, metallurgical as well as packing, marking and certification requirements of wire rods used for the manufacture of wires for elevator ropes of various grades . Steel shall be made through electric furnace route.Vacuum degassed steel is preferable.
Chemical Composition
The material shall be supplied in silicon killed condition. Grades having carbon above 0.85 shall always be procured in aluminum killed condition.
Physical Condition
Wire rods shall be supplied in control cooled condition. Supplies in other conditions are subject to prior agreement.
Preferable coil weight is 1000 +/- 100 kg. Other coil weights can be accepted with prior agreement.
Coil ID shall be min 800mm and OD shall be 1500mm max.
